Tim Heavyside, Australia’s 2017 Agent of the Year
As an experienced real estate agent and Director of Fletchers Canterbury in Melbourne, Tim Heavyside has won many accolades – but Agent of the Year is the one that means the most.
Tim won the 2017 title in four suburbs: Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Camberwell and Balwyn. He also took out the title for Melbourne, Victoria and Australia.

“I’ve had the privilege of winning other awards,” he says, “but Agent of the Year is special because it comes from the people who matter most – the vendors.”
“Without a doubt, the award has helped me generate business. I’m having my best year. Being Agent of the Year is a part of that.”
Raw and real
Today’s digital landscape means people actively search online for recommendations about an agent’s results and client service.
“It’s the way of the world,” says Tim. “People who are considering selling their largest asset look for affirmation from a third party like RateMyAgent to gain a level of confidence about the kind of person they’re appointing to sell their home.”
Tim uses each review as an opportunity to improve his standards. “The feedback from clients is raw, and it’s real,” he says. “I’m always reflecting on how I can improve and take my business to the next level.”
Boosting his personal brand
Tim displays his Agent of the Year title in his email signature; on the profiles that come up when people google him; and on his business card.
Tim’s Promoter advert seen across the Google Display Network
To promote his real estate business across the digital space, Tim advertises his Agent of the Year title and best client reviews through Promoter (which harnesses Google AdWords and social media to track and target potential clients around the internet.)
“People often follow you on social media before they contact you – so it’s important to be visible and top-of-mind. Promoter is a great tool for this.”
Going to the next level
According to Tim, winning Agent of the Year in any capacity – local, citywide, statewide or national – is an opportunity to take your business to the next level.
“Without a doubt, the award has helped me generate business. I’m having my best year. Being Agent of the Year is a part of that.”
Tim will be appearing at RMAOpen 2018 in Melbourne on Thursday, 22 February where he will be discussing the current issues facing the real estate business and the solutions on the horizon.
